OccupyHelena is a leaderless movement comprised of people of differing race, religious and cultural backgrounds, and political persuasions. We are interested in supporting the Occupy Wall Street Movement and creating new conversations about our world.
Activists and community members from Montana and across the country converge at the State Capitol in Helena to fill the void created by destructive extractive industry monopolizing state politics. Direct democracy ensues with teach ins, skill shares, singing and dialogue, all casting light onto the dirty ambitions of unaccountable coal corporations intent on destroying Otter Creek in Montana’s eastern Powder River Basin. Todays events show that the sustainable power of the people is much greater than the power of coal.
Coal Export Action to Defend Our Communities from Coal Exports: August 13- 20 in Helena — In Helena at the State Capitol Building and Rotunda – This will be the largest energy policy-related direct action the Northern Rockies region has ever seen. Make History August 13-20 in Helena – Stand with Montanans Against King Coal!
